BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C.67C BY12/P18.7.19. CHASSIS - RE FINISH OF AIR PUMP & BRACKET. X.3424 I am sending you herewith four brackets which have been finished in four different methods. Two of these I have had ebony blacked by Messrs. Lucas. The black one marked FO, on the end of which a label is attached, was filed up, but not treated with the sand blast, and then blacked. The second black one, marked FSB on one end, was filed up and then sand blasted before being finally blacked. Number three was finished by buffing and has a bright finish. Number four was merely cleaned up by a wire brush. It would appear that one of the ebony blacked samples would be the best scheme to adopt, although it is rather difficult to understand why the sample which was not sand blasted appears to have a better black finish than the sample which was so treated. The former would appear to be a sufficiently good finish for our purpose, that is, filed up by hand and ebony blacked by Messrs, Lucas process. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
