Modification to Production Parts.

We understand that the panel milling of the connecting rods has recently been altered on production from drawing 84681 to 88407.

This modification has now successfully completed a 15,000 mile test on 35-EX, so that there is no question of it being likely to give trouble; on the other hand, we are apprehensive that if such modifications are put through without the circularising of a Standardisation Sheet, we may, sooner or later, be landed into some expensive troubles. We would, therefore, like to be informed of such modifications in the future before they are actually put on the cars, so that a sheet can be sent round.

The fact that a modification has not run 15,000 miles will not prevent a sheet being circulated, it will only ensure that the responsible people have an opportunity of knowing what is being done. In this particular case, the Technical side of the Experimental Dept. had no indication whatever of the modification being put on test.
