S/W Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}..from Bkl. Copy to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Sr 1379 Bkl.6/8.2.39 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL RUN. I have had a talk with Mr. V.E.Morgan, Sports Editor of Reuters, and Mr. Dugdale of the "Autocar" since their return from Paris. Reuters. They sent out a FREE press notice. As no records were broken the run would naturally not be considered of sufficient importance to the general readers of the Press to justify great prominence. This notice will doubtless appear in the Press during the next few weeks both at home and overseas. I have sent out a Notice addressed to individual motoring correspondents who are sure to refer to it in their articles. "AUTOCAR". Their reference to the run will be made in Friday's issue. The following week a longer article with illustrations will be published. "THE MOTOR". Armstrong refused to let Oliver Stewart or anyone else cover the run and they were not represented. When they see the next two issues of "The Autocar" I should think they will feel rather sick about this. I believe Morgan of Reuters suggested an attack on the Munich - Berlin record, but owing to the ice-covered roads the idea was given up. He says that if this attempt is made later on he would like to have the privilege of being in the car. Bkl. | ||
