X.3533.- GOSHAWK DYNAMO.

We have your note R10/G9.2.21 instructing us to abandon for the present experimental work on vibrator regulators.

The R.R. dynamo for the 40/50 made from starter motor parts has been completely instructed in the Experimental Shop and the Goshawk dynamo is in process of being detailed. Both these dynamos are plain shunt wound machines for vibrator control.

I assume from your note that you wish us to stop this work and revise the design of these dynamos to make them suitable for single field winding third brush control. I will therefore give instructions to this effect if I do not hear from you to the contrary.

We do not consider that the dynamo with single field winding and third brush control will do all we desire. We think that the characteristics of vibrator control are so good ifproperly arranged and would so prolong the life of a battery, that a reliable system of this kind is worth striving for.

We are asking the C.O. to obtain the latest catalogues from Messrs. Lucas and C.A.V. etc. but I do not think they will have any dynamos to offer us with the control arranged with the third brush and single field winding.
