X217 To Hl. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}12/KW.10.10.34. Bentley and 20/25 Crankshaft wear. We are somewhat concerned with the wear of the crankshafts of the 20/25 and the Bentley. We have a good example taken from B-6 unit after running only 200 hours. The centre bearing is badly worn. We should be glad if you could check the nitriding of this shaft by examination of one of the webs. We do not want the shaft to be scrapped as we are going to continue running it.
