For the attention of Mr. Lidsey.

Dear Sirs,
We thank you for your letter of the 15th inst. in connection with the D.W.S. Jack on Sir Norman Watson's Rolls-Royce car No. 38 MY.

The Jack in question, we actually have here and have now had an opportunity of examining this. The Jack is considerably broken-up due, we presume, to the fact that it has encountered the ground with considerable force, but apparently the locking washer is not broken and is in working order.

It is very difficult for us to definitely say what is the cause of the unwinding of this Jack, as it may have been due to the fact that the Jack was never really tightened into its case or again, it may be due to the brackets slipping out of line, which we know has happened in one or two cases, causing the Jack to take the load at a severe angle so straining the bearings.

However, to avoid any future possibility of these Jacks coming down through any cause whatsoever, we intend to incorporate an additional safety catch in all future Jacks delivered to you.

This is the first time we have ever had a complaint of a Jack working down on its own and we feel perfectly certain it is an isolated case.

Yours faithfully,

For DONALD SESSIONS & COMPANY LIMITED.

Donald Sessions
Managing Director.
