Re Cost of Material.

There has been some correspondence between Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, R.{Sir Henry Royce} and myself on the question of Cost of Springs in comparison with the cost of the Springs on the Bentley Car made by Woodheads.

We find that we are paying Firths £4.12.6 more for our 40/50 back springs than Bentleys were paying for their 8-litre back springs, and on the front springs the difference is about £2.10.0.

It is suggested for consideration that on the J.III, Peregrine and Bensport, we should try springs made by Woodheads.

Of course, I have pointed out the difference between Firths Springs and Woodheads. Nevertheless it does seem desirable to make some comparisons. We may have gone too far with our refinements from Firths, and of course, there is the advantage that we have used Woodheads Springs in the past.

However, this matter will be discussed more fully during our next conference with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, possibly later on in the month.
