J.W.E. Banks Esq.,

Lincs.

With reference to your memo Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4/R.11.12.37, I saw Mr. Banks in the Showrooms yesterday afternoon and as he will not be far from Derby on Thursday afternoon next the 23rd instant, he proposes to call at W. between 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. in order to have a chat with you or somebody else concerning his car.

What I think he has in mind is to find out how long you will be with the car and whether you will be dismantling the engine. On hearing from you what you intend to do, he will decide whether he will leave the car with you then or arrange for it to come into you after the Christmas holidays.

For your information I would mention that his object in coming to see me yesterday afternoon was to tell me that he had just come back from a demonstration on a 12 cylinder Lagonda, the 10ft.4ins. wheel base model, and was very impressed. He had been on the Track with it and Lagondas were very anxious to get his order, having made him an attractive price for his present car. Mr. Banks said that the 4¼-litre does not interest him and this is the first time he has found a car which would tempt him to change from his 3½-litre Bentley. However, he is not prepared to make an exchange at the moment as he wishes to try one of their production models. Perhaps you might like to hear what he has got to say about his run on the Lagonda.
