'SS{S. Smith}' SPRING DRIVE & DAMPER. X7010

It is practically decided that we shall revert to the standard Phantom type of slipper wheel and spring drive on the first 'SS{S. Smith}' engines.

We should therefore like to see a scheme laid out in which we could employ the Phantom crankshaft damper and spring drive on the 'SS{S. Smith}' crankshaft. We understand the parts affected will be the front part of the crankshaft, the wheelcase and the slipper wheels.

We wish to retain the same polar moment of inertia for the slipper wheels as at present used on the Phantom.
