Rolls-Royce Ltd. 27th June, 1938 sacrifices in the cost to assist in overcoming the price difficulties of a permanent jacking system when compared with cruder methods, and we shall be writing to you again very shortly with regard to this item; although you will understand that this price may only be approximate, for the time being. Needless to say, we shall be most pleased to co-operate with your engineers with regard to the layout of the new system if this would be helpful, and we think a very neat arrangement can be arrived at. We are quite certain that all Bentley owners would more than appreciate a jacking system on their car, and such a system would prevent damage to the vehicle which occurs when ordinary garage jacks are employed indiscriminately under the axles. We shall be very pleased to have your reaction to this suggestion, together with the comments of your colleagues, at an early date. Further, we should be prepared to forward to you a complete set of the latest type equipment for your own test. Referring to the portable jack that failed at your works, we would confirm that the failure was due to the plating of the outside face of the ram. For your information, we do not plate our standard jacks and consequently no trouble has been experienced with these. We are sending you, under separate cover, a replacement which will not be plated, and trust you will have no further cause for complaint. Immediately we have an electric power unit available we shall be most pleased to let you have this for your own tests, but we are anxious that you should have the very latest design - a number of which are now in the course of completion.
