AIR PUMP. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG14.4.21. We cannot make the Filters designed for the R.R. Air Pump, air-tight. We first had trouble because of the aluminium castings being porous. We overcame this by enamelling and stoving the castings. Although we have overcome the leakage due to porosity, we cannot make the joint between the two halves to stand up to 100 lbs. pressure. We have tried leather in place of fibre - this is very much better than fibre but still does not prevent leaks. more We had thought of getting some/castings made up in bronze but we suggest that it may be advisable to modify the design so that it is more practicable as regards making it air-tight.
