To BY from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c.c. to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} (1 print). c.c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c.c. to TB. A.4197 X 4197 RE R.R. TYRE PUMP RECEIVED They have discovered in the works great difficulty in lining up the two crank discs on this pump, which as you know are supported by the tapers on the ends of the crank pin. The difficulty appears to be that an extraordinary high degree of accuracy is required both in grinding the crank pin and also the crank webs with their tapered holes. As we expect this would be a very serious difficulty in production, we have made a new scheme shewn on "N" Scheme 785, of which we send two blue prints herewith, shewing the shouldered stud on the one side, and on the other side a plain bore secured by a round key. The keying is necessary on this side, but is not necessary on the other side. Would you put through details with a view to making an experimental piece. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
