X 11D Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.26/KW. 27th May, 1936. Messrs. Borg & Beck Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. For the attention of Mr. Barker. Dear Sirs, We have to-day passed you an order for two 10" driven plates lined with Ferodo RAD-11 material. We regret that we are unable to supply you with the facings as we did on a previous occasion. We should like these discs as soon as you can possibly let us have them. Further to our letter of yesterday, as we mentioned to Mr. Armitage over the 'phone on Monday, there has been some criticism here of the riveting on the sample 13 1/2" plate which you built up whilst the writer was at your Works. It is felt that in view of the fibrous nature of the material, the rivets which fix both facings on the inner radius might with advantage have a thin washer under the tail before closing over. We are experimenting with one or two types of riveting to see what gives the soundest fixing. Meanwhile we should appreciate your comments on this point. We are in receipt of your print of the Long plate, for which we thank you. We will let you know in the near future whether or not this refers to the plate we have in mind. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
