S/W. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Copy to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} CWB. Bt.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Y3700 PN{Mr Northey}1/EH.18.1.27. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RECEIVED JAN 19 1927 Zenith Filters - Experimental. In further reference to PN{Mr Northey}3/EH13.1.27., as cases of petrol line choke are apparently more frequent with the 20 H.P. model than with the Phantom, in the ratio of about three to one, it would appear wiser to make use of the three Zenith filters referred to, which I understand you will supply us with, as follows : two of them to be fitted to the two following 20 H.P. cars belonging to owners :- GYK-48 - Simpson: GYK-60 - Lord Leven: the third being fitted to one of the inspector's Phantoms. I have asked Bt.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer}, when arranging to fit these two owners' cars, to make it clear that whilst the provision made by us for keeping the petrol line free from trouble had been adequate in the past, there appears to be a great deal of petrol on the market nowadays which may cause trouble because of the amount of small hairs which tend to pass the filters and get caught in the needle valve of the carburettor. We are quite aware of this possibility, and are accordingly looking into the matter with a view to obtaining an effective filter which can be interposed in the existing petrol line. I understand that the two owners in question would appreciate having these filters fitted, and would be willing to let us know, from time to time, whether there is a definite improvement from their use.
