Production Position and Comments
Oil cooler has been omitted from chassis subsequent to 80 in 'D' series, thus effecting a saving of £1.18.5d. per chassis without additional tool charges. It is understood that coolers are also to be removed from all chassis fitted with Hall's metal Con.rod Brgs. (2nd. in 'D' to 81 in 'D' inclusive) and the charge for such retrospective action will be £2.8.8d. ea. on the 80 cars involved or a total of £195.0.0d. In accordance with memo. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.4/MH.{M. Huckerby}12.8.38. coolers removed will be absorbed as replacements on 'C' series chassis, but the 80 surplus sets of oil pipes value £36.0.0d. will, however, be rendered scrap. In addition works stock of unions etc. surplus to 81 in 'D' value £28.0.0d. will also be rendered scrap. The total cost of the above scrap material and retrospective action is £259.0.0d which will be recovered after producing 135 chassis.

Authorisation to Proceed: In PTO.
