In order to obtain reasonable freedom from joggles on the Ph.III steering, it is necessary to have no set up load on the side steering tube springs. This modification has been carried out on all production Ph.III chassis by Nx., and has been applied to all experimental Ph.III's. The necessary condition is obtained by grinding down both springs so that when assembled in the S.S. tube together with the ball pads, ball pin and ball pad guides, the rearmost spring projects 0.005-0.008" beyond the alum. washer F.60088. The nuts on the ball pads are then locked so that they just do not compress the springs. Will you please modify the drawings to agree with this arrangement.
