For the attention of Mr.F.Ll.Smith.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 27th. inst., and referring to the two sample 11" clutches recently submitted for your approval, would advise that as requested we are arranging for all future clutches supplied to be as follows:-

(a) For Borg & Beck transfer to be omitted.

(b) Endeavour to control the painting of the damper springs, although we feel sure you must appreciate that the painting process is not intended as a finish, but rather as a means of identity for poundage.

(c) Will endeavour to arrange for the drilling for the split pin hole in the eyebolts to be more central, although at the same time we would point out that the split pin is really intended as a positive lock, so that it's useful purpose is served even if the split pin is not quite central.

(d) We will arrange for the projecting lugs of the pressure plate to be painted dull black finish as requested.

We also take this opportunity of referring to our 'phone conversation of Saturday morning last wherein we advised that the last delivery of six driven plate hubs for the special 13½" driven discs have been found to be tight on the bottom diameter of the spline. The variation being approximately .020" below bottom diameter of the splined arbor which you recently supplied for balancing and trueing operations.

Con't.......
