To E.H. from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Nor. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} WAG. X 235 Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/HP.29.1.34. Bentley Pedals. Referring to the spherical bearing in the clutch housing for the pedal shaft, the one that developed a rattle on the last 10,000 miles car appears to have been fitted up originally with a certain amount of end play on the sphere. This would certainly develop during the running. Herewith is N. Sch.3960, in which is shown a permanent spring load closing up the housings around the sphere, so eliminating the possibility of end play and giving a certain amount of frictional resistance to rotation.
