re:- SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

We have now completed the full-sized drawing of the second SpectreCodename for Phantom III Body, which is an Enclosed Limousine like the first one, but very much lightened in its structure and has the waist moulding raised to suit the heightened radiator and bonnet. As already mentioned, we have had to scrap all the timber already cut out for this body, due to the raising of the radiator.

We shall wait until you confirm that the dimensions which you gave us verbally for this raised bonnet and radiator are still correct, namely, the radiator raised 1.350" above the original dimensions given on the L.E.C. design, and the back end of the bonnet raised one inch above the position on the L.E.C. design. This modification reduced the depth of the window glasses by one inch. To overcome this, we have reduced the depth of the waist moulding by 3/8" and have raised the cantrail 5/8", so that in the end the glasses will only be 1/4" less than on 30-EX.

We are modifying the dummy chassis and shall mount the body on this. The first set of front wings will be suitable for the orthodox appearance, Move No.1. In order to enable us to make the model look real would Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} please send us an R.R. Medallion and a Phantom ll Radiator Filler Cap.

We would also like to have the worm tube and steering wheel of a Phantom ll, so that we can test the driving seat position and get the clearances between the steering wheel, the wind screen and the scuttle rail capping correct. These can be sent to Park Ward & Co. marked for 31-EX

Before we can go ahead with the front wings, we shall want a layout of the front wheel on full bump and full lock, which Mr. Ingham started for me when in Derby. This drawing could also shew the heightened bonnet dimensions and the front of the car raised 1/2" as well as the one inch bigger diameter wheels.
