Re Body fitted on 2704. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} EF. Mr Johnson informed me this morning that Mr Royce considers the body fitted on 2704 sufficiently narrow for all customers purposes. The windage is low enough to allow the engine to attain a speed which we have no desire to increase, and should not therefore be decreased. The body is also sufficiently roomy to be comfortable. These remarks do not apply to special purposes, such as trials or racers, in which case we should probably take the speed into account in the design of the engine. In making recommendations to customers, or ordering new bodies for experimental or trials purposes, Mr Royce's suggestion should be adhered to. | ||
