Dear Sirs,

RE CONDENSERS.

We duly received yours of the 20th inst, with regard to the 12 sample condensers submitted.

With regard to Mr.Clarke's report, we would state that the test specified in the third paragraph of this report is incorrect with your specification, and in fact is a most unreasonable requirement.

We would undertake to break down any condenser on earth by constant flashing on an alternating current circuit, particularly if on the same system there is some inductance. As your supply is obtained from the mains and we believe transformed to 400 volts, it is impossible to determine what is the voltage applied to the Condenser when you break the circuit, as same will depend on the speed of breaking circuit, the inductance present, momentary value of current and voltage, the shape of the wave, and as pointed out above, there is no condenser which could not be broken down by some judicious arrangement of variables.

We would refer you to the specification of tests which you sent us, and to which specification our condensers are made.

We certainly cannot agree to any test such as that now being applied to these Condensers.

Also, we would like to point out that the specification itself was only sent to us some weeks after the order had been placed and our price fixed.
