QUARTERLY COMPLAINTS - 20HP. From the records we have kept, of cars received at W. during the quarter ending Sept. 30th, the following are the 12 worst points :- Nature of Complaint. No. of Cars. Prior to India. India Series. Has a cure been found, or not? Starter Motor failures from various causes. 25. 5. For the chief cause of this complaint, no permanent cure has been found. Brakes squeaking. 11. 3. A 95% cure has been found on Pre-India. On India chassis it is very small. Slipper Drive seizure. 11. 0. A new oiling device has been introduced, which we hope will prove a cure. So far effective. Corroded Cylinder Tubes. 10. 1. Copper now used instead of steel which should cure the trouble. Clutch Trunnion failures. 7. 0. Improved method of fitting overcomes this. Steering wobbles. 6. 9. No definitely permanent cure. Always liable after joints etc are worn. (Handwritten note: Friction damper now being fitted is quite a cure when new & properly adjusted) Rear Axle Thrust Bearings. 9. 1. A new design has been introduced which we hope will overcome the trouble. Noisy Engine Gears. 4. 4. No definitely permanent cure. Engine knocks. (chiefly Pistons). 3. 4. No definitely permanent cure.
