Dear Geoffrey,

It was nice of you to write me so fully on the Bentley. Dealing with your points in order -

(1) We have altered the oil drain as per your original suggestion. I do not think the parts have got through yet on production. I think the simplest means of getting one is for you to write a letter to the London Office saying how much you like the car and that you want the new part which you originally asked for. I do not think there will then be any difficulty.

(2) The front wing problem is a very difficult one but we are struggling with it. All cars do not behave the same. The Saloons are worst, the open car is entirely free from it, and the Cabriolet is intermediate between the two. In certain cases I have effected a 50% improvement by staying the head lamps. In these cases the head lamps were actually twisting the side channel of the frame, which in turn was causing wing movement. You could easily try bracing the supports with two cross wires, as on Lagonda etc., and see if it did you any good. The disadvantages are that it is unsightly and is only a partial cure; it may actually do nothing. Anyhow, we are experimenting with it, but so far have no solution.

(3) I am sorry about the exhaust system.

(4) I will investigate the draught round the hand brake lever. Actually there is no excuse for this as far as I know, but its elimination is up to the Coachbuilder.
