Y4266 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}9/H10.8.23. re. 20-HP. Petrol Gauge. Although we have no definite record of failure of these gauges, other than the joint being so poor as to allow water to leak into the tank, we have received several adverse criticisms that the gauge is not very suitable, i.e. is too small and its position on the tank is not suitable for easy reading. The following is an extract of a report we have received from Mr. Wallis at Paris Depot, referring to the trouble he has had of water getting into the tank:- "This trouble would not exist if a good quality petrol gauge such as the telegauge fitted to the 40/50 HP. were fitted. We must say that the gauge fitted on the 20-HP appears to us a cheap affair and is hardly readable, especially when the body is in place." EB EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
