To: WST Order No.: Customer's No.: Lucas Ignition Distributor Type X3-1 We have now inspected and bench tested a Lucas distributor of the above type. With the exception of the eccentric rivets for gap adjustment there are no cheese-headed screws used in the distributor, extensive use is made of hexagon headed bolts with locking washers. This is a desirable feature as it eliminates screws working loose due to engine vibration. The contact lever springs are of unorthodox design. instead of the usual C springs, special springs comprised of six turns of .040 diameter wire bent round the pivot of the lever are utilised. one end of the spring presses on the contact arm. the other end of the spring is so bent that it presses on a brass plate. this plate is connected to form a connection to the points via the springs. This method of feeding current to the points seems very poor, as no riveting whatsoever is employed on the contact springs. if a film of dirt is interposed between the plate and Signed: Cont'd This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
