STANDARDISATION OF PARTS

Description: INCREASED INERTIA AND STIFFER CAMWHEEL.

Purpose: To overcome camshaft oscillations.

Brief Report and Remarks:
As reported in Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}11.7.38. investigations showed that coupled with more flexible dynamo coupling, oscillations were effectively reduced by increasing the camwheel inertia by means of loose rings attached to original camwheels.

The result has been confirm by cutting out vibration period hitherto experienced on road.

This sheet to release order for new design camwheels which should not be fitted until run by exptl. and confirmed as satisfactory by Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} when memo. will be issued to this effect.

Production Position and Comments:
Increased inertia and stiffer camwheel to overcome camshaft oscillations has been fitted to the 25th. chassis in 'A' series & onwards.

Introduction of the modified camwheel at this point rendered scrap 68 camwheels total value £6.10.0d.

A tool cost of £30.0.0d. was involved whilst Factory cost of chassis is increased by 8d. with new design.
