The engines started up immediately, and after a short time the boat was up on the step, this being accomplished at approx. 1800 r.p.m. Kaye Don cruised about for a period and then set off down the course.

The average time for the two runs of 1860 yards was 42.8 secs. - 96.5 M.P.H. approx.

Garner and Wilcocks had great difficulty in recording any figures as they were being continually bounced out of their seats, so that logging any figures was almost impossible.

Figures obtained during each run :-

All steel exhaust manifolds, separate scoop.
No.2 prop. new set K.L.G. 618 plugs.
Air temp. 35 C. R.P.M. 2600
Boost 8 lbs/sq.in. Oil pressure 80 lbs/sq.in.
Water In. C. 40. Water Out. C. 65.
Scoops 8 lbs/sq.in. Oil In. C. 62.
Oil Out. C. 85. Petrol pressure 2.5 lbs/sq.in.
Cooler water 4 lbs/sq.in. R.V.P. 5 lbs/sq.in.

The boat was again alongside the gunboat and a rapid inspection carried out, everything appearing O.K. Garner reported that the outlet water pipe from the exhaust system kept quite cool.

Kaye Don reported that he had his foot "hard down" So very much doubting this the throttle positions were checked with Kaye Don depressing the pedal, the "hard down" position was 25 degrees from full throttle.

To enable the full throttle position to be obtained with ease, three return springs were removed leaving only one spring on the pedal.

After putting in a fresh supply of fuel Kaye Don set out on a further attempt. The average time for the two runs of 1860 yds. each was 40.05 secs. - 103.5 M.P.H. approx.

Figures obtained during record run :-

R.P.M. 3000; Boost 12 lbs/sq.in.
Oil pressure 80 lbs/sq.in. Petrol 2.5 lbs/sq.in.
