A.I./LT. 29th June, 1941. J.B. BARCLAY, Esq., Messrs. Jack Barclay Ltd., George Street - Hanover Square, L O N D O N, W.1. Dear J.D.B., I have had a letter from an owner of ours, Capt. B.D. Byfield, of Hewshott House, Liphook Hants, to say he wants to sell his 25 HP. R.R. Can you get in touch with him and find out the records of the car, as I fear I cannot remember the chassis number. Byfield's car was always excellently maintained and, as well as I can remember, the mileage should not be much more than 15,000. Top decarbonising was done about 11,000. The car has been jacked up since 1939, and the battery is with Messrs. Lucas. What would you offer for it? I should like to help you if I could. We might sell him something when all this is over. I have asked M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} to do what he can for him. I have written to the Marquess of Huntley several times, but have not had an answer. He may be overseas by now. Have you got any further with the deal? All goes on much the same here. "Woostie" is in excellent form and one of the main stays of the Home Guard! With kindest regards, Yours sincerely, | ||
