Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. Dixon.

We are in receipt of your letter of the 15th inst. The pumps mentioned have not yet come to hand. When they do we will check them over again and let you have a report.

We can understand the pump you refer to as the second pump, as when we first started testing Bentley pumps, we found some difficulty in getting airtight unions. We therefore always use a fibre washer on these, and this would probably result in a faulty union not showing up.

As regards test apparatus, we can of course, put coils of piping inside our test tanks in order to get a layout which more nearly resembles that on the car. The 4'6" head is more difficult, as an operator cannot work on stuff which is on a level with his own head. Do you not think that the additional length will show up what we require without the extra 18" of lift, particularly since we always test pumps on half voltage as well, and this latter test will probably not be useable with the additional lift.

Yours faithfully,
For THE S.U. CARBURETTER CO. LTD.

R Leslie Kent
