TO EY. FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. c. to EFC. c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} ORIGINAL X4430 GOSHAWK 11. - BATTERY IGNITION CONDENSER WITH IMPROVED CONTACT. We send you herewith drawing No. LeC. 1745., shewing the above. The object of the modifications is twofold. Firstly, in ensuring that the layers of metal and insulation of which the condenser is composed shall be packed tightly in the casing opposite to the point where the spring pressure is applied, and where contact is made, and that there shall be clearance everywhere else sideways. Secondly, the case has been made to bulge by packing it out in the manner shewn, and the lid{A. J. Lidsey} has been made to fit this shape so that the condenser shall present a raised surface on the face opposite to the spring to ensure that the pressure from the aluminium die castings surrounding the condenser box shall be confined to the centre portion and cannot be relieved from this portion by irregularity or error in the die cast surface of the tower.
