(sheet 2) for improving the braking generally on the 20/25, as follows, and which come on at the end of 'H' series. (1) 35° instead of 45° servo cam. This should give an increase of 43% in the servo multiplication of torque. (2) Fully floating linings which are more likely to be consistent than with the present scheme. (3) Ball bearing servo bridge. (4) Non fading servo linings. STEERING. The alteration to the shorter pendulum lever has not brought about the improvement hoped for, and the reduction of the cross steering tube poundage is far more effective. It is, therefore, thought not worth while to recommend the short pendulum lever. The change in the oil in the steering box is considered to be very important under certain conditions, and should be instructed. The poundage on the front end of the side steering tube should also be reduced. Everything that has been said about the 25-HP. steering, including the question of joggles calls for a new steering box. It is, therefore, considered very urgent to push on with trying the SpectreCodename for Phantom III Marles steering box on the 20/25, with a view to early standardisation. In the event of the latter taking place there are some manufacturing problems to be faced in connection with producing the worm, and it is, therefore, considered advisable at this present stage to put these up for consideration to Sft.{Mr Swift} The revised poundages for the cross steering tube have already been circulated, and the same information for the side steering tube is following. Back Axle. It is generally agreed that the isolation scheme is not likely to be beneficial in getting quieter axles. It is capable of dealing with high frequency noises but | ||
