You will have heard from Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} that Mr.Pass finds the 40/50 h.p. chassis unsuited for this trial, which means that we are now going to lend him 20-G4 for the purpose.

This car must conform to the specification in our printed catalogues, and as 20-G4 at present has smaller wheels than standard we shall have to change these for the standard size. This will have the effect of increasing the gear ratio, as the axle is at present a little above the standard ratio, as you know. Therefore it seems we shall have to change the axle also for a standard ratio.

I have spoken to Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} about this, and he agrees that I should ask you to lend us for 20-G4 an axle and set of five wheels which Mr.Pass can use on that car in the Alpine Trial. We should propose at the conclusion of the trial to replace the present axle, wheels and tyres and let you have the axle and wheels that you lend us back at Derby.

The car will have to be in absolute readiness for Mr.Pass to leave London with on 23rd July. We could doubtless get the axle changed in London at, say, Cricklewood, if you could send it there and advise us when it is available.
