X. 4383. 20-HP R.R. Chassis Dynamo - Output.

With reference to your EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T20.7.23 - we note the new specification you are now arranging, and shall be glad if you will let us know what the maximum output should be, (with limits) when the dynamo is actually working on the car, allowance being made for the current taken by ignition, also what it should be when cold and hot.

As previously explained, the chief point I am concerned about is that this output seems to increase after the dynamos have been supplied and have been in use on the car for some time. I am rather alarmed that this may happen while the cars are in customers' hands, and increased output may be the cause of dynamo failure, which we have experienced lately.

I shall be glad, therefore, if you will supply me with some information as to what can be done to dynamos which are giving this increased output, to reduce same, what is the reason for this increased output developing, and what steps have been taken to prevent dynamos being turned out from the production department so that this trouble will not take place.
