SECRET. X300 To HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from HDY.{William Hardy} c. Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} Dr. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Horizontal Hand Brake Lever and Gear Lever to suit. - SpectreCodename for Phantom III. Herewith is N. Sch.4590 which shows the above. It is not possible to retain the large travel of the lever handle that we have on our vertical levers (SpectreCodename for Phantom III 13.5") but we think that the 8" we allow should be satisfactory with the same leverage to the brake shoe as we use now, and with separate shoes for the hand brake which will of course get us wear. The horizontal part of the brake lever is needlessly strong, it is made so in order to give lateral stiffness at the handle. We shall be sending instructions for the following modifications to other parts that are necessary:- (1) Holes in frame side member. (2) Gearbox actuating mechanism shorter pendulum lever to give greater angular movement. (3) Gear lever bracket. HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
