Sidgreaves - MD} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} BY Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} R-R BEARING METAL Prior to a discussion of chassis matters, R-R bearing metal was discussed and samples were produced after having been tested. This was considered superior to anything that had previously been used, and Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that he was arranging to cover this by patents in several countries at a cost of between £2000 and £3000. to the Company. CHASSIS Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s report of 20th July was gone through in regard to faults and remedies - Vapour Lock This has been cured by putting the filter outside the bonnet. Further schemes are being tried, one of which is removing the pumps away from under the bonnet as well as the filter. Slow running This is very much affected by the vapour lock troubles, and it is expected to be cured or much improved by the above remedies. The slow running referred to was the idling of the engine and not the slow running of the car. Piston Knocks and Overoiling -i.e.high oil consumption E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reports that the fully split piston has cleared up this position so far.
