Further to Mr. Hives' instructions, we have carried out tests for the purpose of checking the results obtained by Dr. Pye in his experiments on the composition of the exhaust gases. These tests have now been completed and a copy of the report is attached for your information.

The work was carried out on the Test Bed, and also in flight on an S.E.5a fitted with an R.R.S. Engine No. A.V.D.1.
A drawing No. 34 showing the arrangement is attached.

The gas samples were taken from the exhaust collector pipe.
