We have run into a certain amount of trouble with the florboards which we have standardised on the Bentley, owing to the material softening with age. We think that even without this softening we are too near the limit of bending with the board with the present gauge material and the present strength of stiffener.

We shall be glad if you will see how much you can put up the gauge of the material without upsetting the tooling which has taken place, and how much we can increase the rigidity of the stiffener. We will then have a set made up experimentally and check that this is O.K. for production.
