x819 To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HL12/AG.7.11.34. Laboratory. Re: Floorboard in Aluminium Sheet. Old sample 32.4 Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager}, new 37.5 Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} Harder Aluminium sheet might be used but this would increase difficulty in working. About 45 Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} would be maximum permissable. Aluminium containing manganese D.T.D. 123 would be about the same hardness i.e. 45 Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} R.R.56 unheatreated would be about 60 Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager}, and solution heat-treated 120 Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} The choice would depend partly on method of manufacture. As you are aware cost of D.T.D. 213 and RR.56 would be considerably greater than pure aluminium. With present design annealing in each corner would be necessary before drawing. Hl. He | ||
