Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1336 LA{L. A. Archer}3/T8.11.37 With reference to the letter from The India Tyre Co. referring to damage to tyres. Some little time ago we had a number of complaints but in every case we found the tyres concerned had been dismounted and re-fitted by the Coachbuilders, mainly Park Ward. This is done when customers ask for wheels to be painted to match the colour of the car. To try and overcome this trouble we persuaded Park Ward to send their man to the India Tyre Co. for a course of instruction on fitting tyres. This was done and the last complaint we had was in August last. The last complaint we had about tyres fitted by ourselves in the Test Dept. was in June last, but this concerned a chassis which left us in November of last year. At the same time we are taking notice of the hint contained in the India Tyre Co's letter i.e. that sufficient air should be put into the tube when mounting the tyres. We will also convey this to Park Ward's tyre fitter. I am returning their letter herewith. IA | ||
