"X" SERIES MATERIAL.
-------------------

Referring to BY12/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 30.6.25, the same points apply to "X" Series as to "W", with the exception that none of the material is ordered, but would be ordered on the basis of what was ordered for "W" Series originally.

In addition to all that applies to "W", the following points demand settlement:-

1. Frame Side Members.
-------------------

When it was intended to produce "W" series suitable for use with Subframe, 200 sets of frame side members were ordered, which, in order to make it possible to utilise same with the Subframe, had the joggle in vertical plane at the rear end, arranged 1" further back than is the present standard.

In addition, the side members were lengthened so as to form in themselves a part of a luggage grid.

/dis

The above features do not demand the use of a subframe. I see no /advantage in their use, and it seems to me that since the frames are in existence, it is a point worthy of consideration whether we should not use these side members, which represent something like £2000 of expenditure in their present state.

2. Luggage Grid.
---------------

The new frame was arranged for a form of luggage grid which has been built up in the Experimental Dept. and fitted to the same car we referred to in BY12/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 30.6.25. the luggage grid in question being tubular in construction, of robust form although light, and arranged to turn downwards when not in use to protect the petrol tank. It would appear desirable to incorporate this scheme with the frame; the car incorporating same would be available for inspection next week.
