| W/S - C. X261a Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KW.18.4.36. Mr. R.F. Summers. Replying to C.1/MK.16.4.36. I asked Summers what he meant by the brakes being unpleasant when applied travelling fast on a bad surface, and his answer was there is too little front braking. We have already had considerable discussion with Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} because he says there is too much front braking on the 4¼ litre and so we are in rather a difficult position regarding this problem. We agree that the suspension of the Bentley is rapidly becoming out of date. Judging by the way the Wraith programme is going, it is going to be morethan two years before it is altered which is somewhat disturbing. We are, however, carrying out experiments to see if we cannot do something to improve matters, without tearing up the whole of the existing car. Referring to the engine rumble, we think that he has rather over-stated the case, but this is a point which can be criticised and it is having our attention.
