To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X 336 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW.9.4.35. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Pistons. In the trouble we are having with the SpectreCodename for Phantom III pistons we are having difficulty in divorcing the characteristic of the piston from that of the engine. It would be of great assistance to us if we could obtain some connecting rods of suitable lengths so that we could run SpectreCodename for Phantom III pistons in the Bentley. The point is that the piston from the gudgeon pin to the piston crown on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III is much less than that on the Bentley. Herewith connecting rod B.V.89 indicates the length required. We have shown the Bentley size of gudgeon pin but actually we prefer the SpectreCodename for Phantom III size. If by any means it is possible to draw some of the existing forgings of Bentley rods to this length, we do not mind bushing the SpectreCodename for Phantom III pistons and using Bentley gudgeon pins, but if the rods have to be made from hand forgings or if they can be cut from the SpectreCodename for Phantom III rod forgings, then we would rather have the SpectreCodename for Phantom III gudgeon pin size. Will you please let us know what you can do. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
