We have considered the petrol tank on Goshawk II and send herewith a print of "N" Scheme 739 and 740 giving our suggestions. On "N" Scheme 739 is shewn the tank itself including the filler and air and petrol feed, and on "N" Scheme 740 we have shewn the modifications that we think will be required to the level indicator. It will be seen that the spare wheel interferes with the filler and with the indicator. The latter has to be crowded right over to one side and viewed between the side member, the rear cross member, and the sweep of the spare wheel. This assumes, of course, that it will not be considered possible to see it through the spokes of the wire wheel because the latter will very often be covered by a disc, or the spare wheel may be carried in a special case. This position makes it rather more difficult to get an indicator in, and we have shewn two suggestions, one similar in general principal to the present one, but the mechanism modified to enable it to be read from the far side. In fig 2 we have suggested that the float and spare wheel quadrant might be mounted separately in the tank, and the pinion and indicating gear might be pushed in afterwards, but there are difficulties in connection with the lining up.
