This column is for Name of Person addressed. Date. -4- govern very well. (Friction seems rather great). The extra flap on low speed jet appeared to be working all right, but was not effective. I specially tested down long gradients & although there was not a lot of explosions in the silencer as usually is the case, there was nearly always one very bad explosion. The smell from the exhaust was at times bad and very dis-agreeable to passenger in the back. One could smell strong mixture even although carburettor was run on weak. Smell seemed to be most pronounced on retard after acceleration. Ignition. New wiring for battery does not seem effective; I got several pre-ignitions and explosions in the carburetter when running full throttle slow speeds, which were not there on magneto only.
