40 mm. GUN.

1. DRAWINGS FOR THE ADMIR'LTY.

I suggest that we do not send drawings to the Admiralty, of the 40 mm. gun until we have tested the two prototypes which are being prepared for service trials, and have also made any modifications necessary to the drawings to facilitate production. B.U.S.M. will probably make some requests as a result of their tool planning.

2. SEA-WATER TRIAL.

It is agreed that a trial will be carried out to see what adverse effect a copious supply of sea-water has on the operation of the gun, and that this test will be made on a gun having the final finish. i.e. the first of the two guns for service trials.

We will try and get hold of a genuine supply of sea-water but, failing this, we shall have to get some made up in the Laboratory.

3. INSTALLATION IN THE BEAUFIGHTER.

I have asked Frise if he has any gun mountings made up which he would like us to test on the Range.

I think we might make a visit down there shortly to see how his big machines are getting on and how soon they are likely to require a gun for turret work.

I suggest Thursday or Friday, September 5th. or 6th. for the trip.
