After careful consideration of the criticisms by Sales and Derby of the steering wheel position on the Four Door Saloon on Peregrine and having examined the car ourselves we have reached the conclusion that the "W" Type column as fitted to this car can be abandoned. We are of the opinion that for the normal position the bottom of the wheel on this body should be 17.500ins. from the top of the frame. This is the position given by the maximum upward adjustment of the "g" Type Column.

That there will be no means of a further upward adjustment does not matter as a slight remodelling of the driving cushion can be done easily to deal with the customer who wants more clearance between the wheel and the seat.

To deal with the short bodied driver there will be 2.000. of downward adjustment.

For the close coupled Saloons, like Pere.3.& 4. we propose to use the "g" Type Steering as originally instructed i.e. the bottom of the steering wheel will be 16.500ins. from the level top of the frame, the column being in the middle of its adjustment.

We are very pleased to find that we can make this simplification as it will materially help the Works in connection with the erection of chassis. There is now only one chassis for all classes of coachwork.
