(d) Merlin Engine Sparking Plugs.

We have carefully considered Mr. West's suggestion of making the X465 S/3. plug in a two-piece construction. In our opinion this is not a practicable proposition, for reasons which we explained to Mr. West on the telephone to-day. We consider that the X465 S/3. is the best mica detachable plug which we can submit to you for your Merlin engine, and we suggest that you continue your tests on the 24 plugs of this type, which we understand have run satisfactorily up to 35 hours.

We think that the discussion as to the future type of plug for the Merlin engine should be left over until you have had the opportunity of completing your test on these plugs, and if you will kindly advise us when these tests are finished we will arrange to come over and discuss the whole situation.

Yours faithfully,

LODGE PLUGS LIMITED.
