"You will remember that for a very long time I have recommended for the rear of our cars very flexible springs and ample damping friction. This is more than ever necessary owing to the use of cord tyres which are more resilient with less internal friction. Therefore fit to all cars we are sending out, thin leaved springs and shock absorbers. It seems waste of time and energy to do anything else, and waste not to take advantage of this knowledge. It will be realised that even doing this will still leave cars quite bad enough owing to this change in the types of tyres used. R.{Sir Henry Royce}"

Up to date no shock absorber has been standardised. It was thought that Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} should see R.{Sir Henry Royce} on this subject of springing and take some cars down to him, of which there have been serious complaints.

(11) OFFICES. Whether we evacuate new offices or not, as much money could be saved if we do in taxes, light and heating.

It was agreed that a Committee should be appointed as follows - Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} to be represented by Jn. and My. if D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} cannot attend himself.

(12) DISPOSAL OF BUILDINGS AND PLANT.

Agreed that nothing could be done just at present.

(13) POSSIBILITY OF OVERLAPPING BETWEEN GENERAL OFFICES AND TEST DEPT.

(a) Test runs on chassis for likely buyers. Agreed that a special order number be taken out and Hr. be given permission to sign this.

(b) Limit of accounts before owner can take his car away. Agreed that up to £5 will not be necessary to keep a car till money is paid.

(c) Agreed that a Committee as follows - Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} BP. and Hr. be formed to investigate this question of overlapping.

(14) WORKERS' SHARES.

Up to the present when men have been discharged, who have Workers' Shares, it has been ordered that the shares be taken off them. It was stated that we are not really legally bound to rebuy these shares on discharge, workers have the right to hold them for twelve months.

D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} was asked to report fully on this matter to CJ.

(15) SWALLOW. As to whether it would be better to design and cost of construction of Goshawk II or go on with the Swallow, during the next twelve months or so.
