Front Suspension - continued.

The vertical coil springs FB.3826 with a .520 packing inserted beneath the springs are in good condition.

Front Roll Rod.

The front roll rod of the Oldsmobile type has been worn by the rubbers; the rubbers, however, are in good condition.

Front Shock Dampers.

Assembled to LOP.FB.3465, incorporating E.CD.514 Revised High Front Engine Mounting and S.CD.429 Front Shock Damper Valve.

The general condition of these dampers is very good as regards pistons, links, casings and casing bores.

The cap on the main valve stem Ex.S.501 is split slightly adjacent to the drilling.

The replenishing valves were changed in France, the replacements covering 6,000 miles. The piston and connecting link for the rebound stroke on the near side damper were also changed, and the replacements covered 3,414 miles.

Rear Shock Dampers.

These are the standard R.R. type and we were requested not to dismantle them, but so far as can be ascertained they are quite satisfactory.

The connecting link rubbers failed and the connecting links wore into the spring plates - see attached photograph. Replacements were fitted which have run 6,356 miles and appear to be failing again.

Rear Springs.

The rear springs which were fitted with interleaves are in very poor condition. This particularly applies to the interleaves which, as will be seen from the attached photographs, had in certain cases worn through.

The near side centre bolt pulled through the spring and was changed in France. The replacement covered 11,301 miles. As will be seen from the photograph of the interleaves, this bolt is now bent.

continued.
