- 5 - HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}1/VS.{J. Vickers}21.11.38. Front Hubs. Complete to LOP.GB.3487 incorporating PD.240. Both hubs are in a very satisfactory condition despite the fact that the front off side hub outer bearing dried up after 7,768 miles and subsequently completed 7,963 miles running. The front hubs, fitted with angular contact bearings, appear to have lost .001-.0015 preload. The condition of all ball races is good. On removal of both off side hub caps approximately one teaspoonful of water was found in each cap. The near side front cap also showed signs of moisture, but in the case of the rear cap this appeared to be due to condensation. Front Brake Equaliser. Complete to LOP.FB.3788, incorporating F.CD.605 Layout of Front Brake Operation. The condition of this section is satisfactory. Front Suspension. Assembled in accordance with LOP.FB.3548 and incorporating FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}124 Lower Triangle Rear Bearing for Strengthened Frame and FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}86 Bump Buffer. All components in this assembly have been crack tested with the following results :- FB.3507/8 Lower Triangle Levers - both cracked at the end adjacent to the wheel - see attached photograph. FB.2980 Torque Arms - both satisfactory. FB.3313 Upper Triangle Levers - both satisfactory. Ex.S.705 Upper Triangle Levers - both cracked - see attached photograph. S.CD.699 Stays - both satisfactory. The bearing bushes FB.3650 are satisfactory, as are the lower triangle rear bearing brackets FB.3547/8 and the rear bearing cups FB.3649. continued. | ||
